Security Certificate

What Is A Security Certificate?

A security certificate is a "virtual" certificate installed on your hosting server. The security certificate allows the server and user's browser to communicate by encrypting data both ways. Encryption quality varies by certificate type, but 128 - 256 bit encryption is standard.

Why Would My Organization Need A Security Certificate?

In a word, trust. If your website collections sensitive information from its users, such as Social Security numbers, credit card information, or personal information, users will want to know that their information is being sent to you securely. Leaving this information unencrypted between the server and browser can allow hackers to more easily intercept sensitive information. Would you do business with someone who didn't ensure your information was being accepted securely?
